On Monday, Year 4 had a day in the kitchen, as for part of their Design and Technology curriculum, they worked with Mr Shields (a chef in a former life) to make a variety of healthy dishes including Minestrone Soup, cheese scones and garlic bread. The children learnt skills such as peeling, chopping, dicing and grating, as well as the rubbing in method to make the cheese scones and kneading the dough for the bread.

“I was very pleased at how adventurous some of the children were in trying the dishes, especially as some said they didn’t usually eat vegetables but loved them in the soup. They have promised to teach their parents how to cook Minestrone at home.” (Mr Shields)
