As some of you may be aware, the DFE have confirmed that all schools will be expected to administer a multiplication test to their Year 4 pupils from 2019-20.

This multiplication tables check has been designed to help ensure that children in primary school know their times tables up to 12 off by heart. As well as being critical for everyday life, knowledge of multiplication tables helps children to solve problems quickly and flexibly, and allows them to tackle more complex mathematics later on in school.

With this in mind, we have purchased a program which we feel will improve pupils’ multiplication and division knowledge. Times Tables Rock Stars’ is a carefully sequenced program of daily times tables practise, with fun games and rock songs to go along with it. This will be accessed regularly in school, but we would highly recommend children accessing it frequently at home.

Please see the guide below for further information of how to use the software, however the children have also accessed the program in school and should be familiar with how to use it too.

Some of the Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed using the ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ app today – see below.
