Every Friday in school we hold a Fairtrade Tuck Shop but we also think it is important to remind everyone why we do this. Celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight gives us a chance to explain again why it is important to support the farmers who grow crops such as bananas and cocoa beans and ensure that they are paid fairly for all their hard work. Members of our Fairtrade and Mini Vinnies groups planned and led a special assembly to remind our children of the principles of Fairtrade and how to identify those foods and goods using the Fairtrade logo. Next week we are also holding a cake sale to raise monies for Cafod – the children are going to be asked to try to bake their cakes using as many Fairtrade ingredients as possible.
