As part of their science topic ‘Rocks and Fossils’, Year 3 visited the Centre for Life in Newcastle. They had a very hands on (and messy!) lesson learning about and making fossils (see photographs below). The highlight of the trip was the ‘Robots’ exhibition where the children got the chance to learn about the development of robots over the past 500 years. They began their learning with the humble beginnings of 16th century mechanical automatons, before marching forward through the rich history of robotics to the latest humanoids. Year 3 also had time to explore the ‘Brain Zone’ and the ‘Curiosity Zone’, watch a fantastic Science show, before finally finishing with a thrilling ride on a newly themed ‘Frankenstein’ 4D motion ride.
