This week we invited More Than Dance to come into school to lead liturgical dance workshops for all of our classes. Each class had a half-day to explore more creative ways of expressing their faith based on the themes of Lent. During the day the children worked together on drama and dance activities which will then be used to make our school/parish liturgies, collective worship and masses even more special. The children were also given an opportunity to look individually at their own experience of ‘saying sorry’, of being forgiven and how that actually can change things. Time will also be given to looking at the choices they make and the impact their choices and decisions have on others around them.

The children thoroughly enjoyed working with the team from More than Dance and the staff all agreed that the days were a huge success. Below are some comments from the children:

“I thought it was brilliant! I love how it was fun but also very peaceful. We got to reflect on our own feelings about God and I liked doing that.” Eva Y5

“I really enjoyed the whole morning because the songs and music were really calm and it made me think of God.” Alfie Y5

“I loved the music because it was very calm and relaxing and we moved very gently.” Ruby Y4

“It was quite challenging because you have to remember lots of different sequences of movement but I enjoyed it because I love challenges.” Alana Y5

“I liked that we had to work with different partners, it’s good to not just choose you friends.” Ellen Y4
