Yesterday the children from Year 3 joined classes from our other two parish schools in church to celebrate the dressing of the Jesse Tree with Deacon Peter and Father Tony. Jesse Trees are a very old Christmas Tradition and first started in medieval times. They are used to help tell the story of the Bible from creation to the Christmas Story. The name comes from Jesse, who was the Father of the great Jewish King David. … But now Jesse Trees are used as a kind of Advent Calendar, helping us all to prepare for the coming of God’s great gift to his people – His Son, our Saviour.

“The children sang and read beautifully,” said Miss Allon. “Father Tony was so touched with the children’s enthusiasm and commented on what a wonderful service it had been.”
