Last week our Year 6 class attended an ‘Apprentice Student on Campus’ event organised by Northumbria University. This is an opportunity for pupils to spend a day on campus, taking part in fun activities and sports and get a taste of what it is like to be a student and how higher education could be an option for them. The class was split into two teams, to compete in various competitions against other participating schools. The first activity was a ‘whodunit’ involving a missing trophy and our Team A won that competition by managing to complete a number of problem solving tasks. The second competition, won by our Team B, involved the children using an A to Z campus tool to find something on campus beginning with each letter of the alphabet. A competitive, but friendly, game of dodgeball rounded off a very enjoyable and for St Joseph’s Juniors, a very successful day at University!
