During this autumn term we have celebrated the rich bounty of God’s harvest. At this time of year, we celebrate the harvest festival because it reminds us as Christians of all the good things God gives us. It also makes us want to share with others who are not so fortunate. In St Joseph’s Junior School, we first of all celebrated the CAFOD Harvest Day with an assembly (led by our Mini Vinnies), a mass in school and a non-uniform day, when the children followed the theme of the day ‘Brighten Up the Harvest’ and came into school in their brightest outfits. The Mini Vinnies, assisted by the School Council, also organised a food collection which was picked up by volunteers from the People’s Kitchen in Newcastle after our parish mass which involved all three parish schools.
