As part of their science topic ‘Rocks and Fossils’, Year 3 visited the Centre for Life in Newcastle this week. They had a very hands on (and messy!) lesson learning about and making fossils (see photographs below).

The highlight of the trip was the ‘Dino Jaws’ exhibition where the children got the chance to explore the sometimes gruesome, always fascinating, subject of dinosaurs and their food. The children learnt all about the notorious flesh-eating habits of T. rex, to the vegetarian tastes of Iguanodon, and how dinosaurs had many interesting ways of catching their meals and eating them.

Year 3 also had time to explore the ‘Brain Zone’ and the ‘Curiosity Zone’, before finishing with a thrilling ride on a newly themed ‘Dracula’ 4D motion ride.
