Across three days this week, our Y5 class, accompanied by Marcus from Cycling Generation and their teachers (some who admitted they hadn’t been on a bike for a while!), all took part in a cycle ride around Herrington Country Park. The children learnt lots of new cycling skills especially how to ride downhill safely and also got to see lots of wildlife including a stoat, a crane and lots of nesting swans.
‘It was excellent,’ said Blake, ‘I really enjoyed it and felt a lot healthier to be out in the fresh air getting lots of exercise.’
‘It was so much fun, ten out of ten and we knew we’d had some good exercise because we were really tired afterwards,’ said Lee.
Mrs McDermott was really proud of the message emailed by Marcus afterwards: ‘A brilliant week with Year 5, I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did, an absolute joy to work with!’
