As part of our Healthy Schools initiative, the Year 5 & 6 classes took part in a ‘Hoops for Health’ tournament which also included having players from the Newcastle Eagles coming into school to lead a number of workshops with the children. The players, Drew, Malik & Charles each took a different workshop which included topics on the dangers of smoking & other health related issues, prejudice & perpetuating stereotypes and basketball skills. All of the children showed a lot of skill and knowledge but Sophie, Jack and Oliver were awarded special  prizes for their participation in the various

activities and all of the children received a special complimentary ticket offer for their next match. The children really enjoyed all of the activities but the most frequent comment heard all afternoon was: ‘They are all so tall!’
